Sweet Memories
I stepped into the premises
My tiny hand clung in my mother’s
Looking strangely at the huge blocks and lovely gardens
Looking at the motto “The Truth Shall Make you Free”,
Which symbolizes the spirit of American missionaries,
Not knowing what it really means.
I stepped into the play school
Looking anxiously
At the two little girls
Playing a green ball.
I was invited! Oh the happy moments, mutual smiles
Lovely joining not knowing the little ones will be my pals forever.
Not realizing the smooth transformation that was taking place
From my mother’s care into the world of fun and joy.
I then saw a smart tall woman at the piano
Her eyes were gleaming behind her spectacles
She smiled at me and I smiled back
Not knowing I’ll become her admirer.
Sweet days passed
New friends, new lessons, new blossoms!
Happiness and bitterness, crying and laughter
Chatting and cheating, quarrels and jokes
Cherished me and nourished me day by day.
New changes, New faces
A new woman as our principal
Her word never hurts
Her smile stole our hearts.
Years passed swiftly
Meetings and performances
Exams and excursions
Cheers and changes.
The happiness didn’t last long
As an unknown storm attacked in 09.
Bravely faced the challenges
Wisely chased the evils
Spring came back
Filled our hearts with joy.
Sweet memories gently flow
Now I gather and collect the treasure
The victories, the losses
The proud times
The moments of tears
Taught me tolerance
Gave me strength.
Sixteen long years of happiness
Is going to end……….
My school, my love, my almamater,
The pride of the nation
American donation
The history of women’s education.
The pinnacle of eminence
Again the moment of transformation
But this time from the lap of my almamater back to the society
Parting is difficult
Feelings are strong
But one thing I firmly believe
“The truth shall make me free"
